Livin' life & keeping the boat wake under 5 mph

After a week at work, a few eves at the range, one eve spent shooting my new bow (with the most poorly fletched arrows in creation - BTW Yup, I did 'em myself!) and practicing throwing my boomerang while walking with "Sam - dog of the future", the weekend was a tad quiet. I did well, but invariably got the bits of advice that always accompany my practicing.

Saturday - up late, left the house 8 a.m., stopped to get my tkt to Friday eve's RUSH concert, and then off! To Macungie, PA. There was an auto show, "Wheels of Time", or something like that... Lots of gorgeous hot rod cars, seriously there were about a gazillion of 'em. So many that I just had to stop with the exclamations. Still didn't get to be ho-hum, but it was overwhelming.

My friend and I hung out at the stall/booth/stand of her dearest friends signpainter/auto pinstripers, Alan & Judy Johnson. It was a joy to watch the work that man can do. It's amazing how much of a medievalist he is, and how much the works remind me of manuscripts, or with the more decorative striping, of early renaissance manuscripts.

One car Mr. Johnson (AJ) worked on at the show was a 1932 Ford pick-up thingee (that's a technical term). After the work was done, it was 'suggested' to the car owner that he take me for a ride around the grounds. It is a trip and a half riding in a classic hot-rod that's for sure. Riding around in one that's been pinstriped by Alan Johnson, and so lovingly restored by Steve (sorry, don't know his family name) was a treat. The only thing that would have made it more fun would have been to let the thing out on a flat, open road. Probably for the best though as cars of that era didn't have seatbelts. And I doubt Steve would have let me drive the car in any event.

Sunday was another quiet day. The day was spent with a posse of motorcyclists. These folks are on a ride -Bean're's Biker Bailout - to Digby, NS, Canada as part of a contest/promotion run by several really cool and generous sponsors. Their ride is to the Wharf Rat Rally.

Anyhow, these are great, fun people. Bean're, is one of the most interesting people I've met in a while. He has a memory that is unique and surprising. I am in total awe of his recall. Not only is he smart as heck, but he's one of those folks that just knows how to elegantly bring out the best in each person. A true diplomat. I admit that I'm a tad jealous of Bean're's nomadic lifestyle; but although I'm envious, I don't want to go there - again. Although all members of the posse are interesting, and I'm enamored over their travel, it's Kendra's boots that have tinted my world with Iago green.

The modern posse, with my friend & I, did the tourist rap in Manhattan. Motley crew if ever there was. Bean're, cool as can be, has a great hat that caused a bit of attention. I'll freely admit that although the snake was dead, and it was beautifully tanned, those hollow fangs scare me. What's in 'em now? I mean that hat does some traveling, I have no idea where those fangs have been.

The group was enormously fun to be around and since I adore my city and I love to show her to visitors I had a great time. I hope that they did too. Heck, the evening meet my criteria - no broken bones, no arrests, the only time we got involved with the man was to take touristy photos ... etc.

Hopefully the journey for Bean're's Bailout crew will continue easily. I know that I'm supposed to say 'be safe", but all I wanted to say was 'have fun'. Since having fun is the whole point it seemed superfluous.

Vaya con Dios, my new acquaintances, vaya con Dios.
